Meet Compassion. One of Creation Fest’s Key Partners, we’re super excited to welcome them back to the 2019 festival with the Compassion Experience truck, an opportunity for you to get up close and personal with the work that Compassion does and learn what difference their child sponsorship programmes make to the children who take part.
Creation Fest will be visited by the Compassion Experience this year! This new mobile trailer, created by Christian child development charity Compassion UK, has been designed to demonstrate what life can be like for children living below the poverty line in a developing country. It is a family-friendly experience exploring the daily lives of some of the most vulnerable children in the world and the struggles they face in accessing basic needs such as education, healthcare, food and clean water.
More than 780 million people across the world live on less than £1.50 ($1.90) a day, the majority of whom live in Southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Statistics tragically show that on average 15,000 children under five die every day from preventable causes, with 45% of these deaths being caused by nutrition-related factors.
Within the Compassion Experience trailer Patience, a girl from Uganda, tells the story of her childhood and her own experiences of the vulnerabilities, restrictions, and dangers that poverty brings in her respective cultures and contexts. The experience also shares how she has overcome these with support from her local church, and the project embedded in her community, which ensured she received a quality education, had enough to eat, emotional and spiritual support, and any needed medical attention. Now a young adult, Patience is now giving back to her own community.
The Compassion Experience has been designed to be interactive, bringing to life Patience’s experiences through tactile, audio and visual displays. It will be open 12noon – 6pm daily during the festival FREE of charge. Be sure to pay it a visit!
